Walking Together: Reflections on Salmon Arm’s Coldest Night of the Year 2026

On the evening of February 28th, the streets of Salmon Arm glowed a little brighter. Our team at Royal LePage Access Real Estate traded our office desks for walking shoes and warm layers to participate in the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY). It was an evening defined by community, compassion, and a shared mission to support our most vulnerable neighbours.

Our team was proud to show up for this year’s walk, bringing together a mix of our realtors, staff, and family members. Whether it was volunteering time to help organize, donating to the cause, or trekking the full 5km route, everyone played a part. Beyond the fundraising, it was a fantastic opportunity for us to connect outside the office. Between the shared laughs and the fresh winter air, we made memories that remind us why we love living and working in the Shuswap.

One of the highlights of the night was the sheer energy on the route. We met new neighbours, chatted with fellow local business owners, and reconnected with familiar faces. The spirit of Salmon Arm was on full display. Countless "smiley" volunteers lined the streets, keeping us on the right path and ensuring everyone crossed the roads safely. We were kept fueled by delicious treats and warm drinks generously provided by our local cafes and vendors. It was a collective spirit throughout the town

The Coldest Night of the Year is a powerful statement. We walk to acknowledge those in our community who face the real choice between keeping the heat on or putting food on the table. We walk for those seeking refuge from violence, those battling isolation, and those who have lost their footing and their homes. Proceeds from this event stay here in our community, to fund local organizations that offer hands-on support to those who need it most.

By stepping into the cold and dark of February, we declare our concern for those who have no choice but to brave the elements every night. Every step our team took was a step toward bringing a neighbour closer to safety, health, and a place to call home.
